The List

Each time we partner with an organization, we post their list of needs here. Check back often for new rounds of #one2give and #onebigneed blitzes.

#onebigneed x The Book Blitz

DO YOU HAVE #ONE2GIVE? FIND OUR #ONEBIGNEED BOOK BLITZ HERE.

Books have the power to comfort, inspire and shape young minds. A love of learning starts with a love of reading and books.

We were approached by one underserved partner school about the critical need for home libraries. This is something we know our #one2give family will feel very connected to and so we’re coming to you today in hopes that you’ll join us on our mission to collect gently-used books.

Between now and Monday March 21st, we’re collecting gently used books for Grade 1-6 students. Books will be given out by teachers at this school for students who don’t have a home library.

Contact us for Drop Spots.

***We’re very grateful for all donations, however, please consider the quality of the book prior to donating. Would your own family enjoy it?***

Types of books include:

📕Picture and chapter books

📕Gently used children's magazines like Chickadee

📕Graphic novels

📕Learn-to-read books

NB: we have received many wonderful PJ Library books do not require more.

Optional: Feel free to have your child include a book recommendation or make a bookmark. Safety pin your work to the inside cover. Check out our bio for some printable templates.

Do you have one book to give? Help bring the magic of books into as many homes as possible. Let's do this!

Thank you to our #one2give family for coming together, once again, to support our city's most vulnerable.

#onebigneed x The School Supply Blitz

DO YOU HAVE #ONE2GIVE? FIND OUR #ONEBIGNEED SCHOOL SUPPLY BLITZ WISHLIST HERE.

It’s Hard to believe that we’re introducing #one2give ROUND SIX. This is #onebigneed: The School Supply Blitz. We call it #remotelearninglove and it’s inspired by our #one2give family. We’ve been overwhelmed by how many of you have asked our favourite four-word question: How Can I Help?

Since April 8th, dollar and budget stores have been restricted to selling grocery and pharmacy items. This means that families can't buy school/craft supplies unless they have access to online shopping — a privilege.

In the coming weeks, we will be delivering supply kits to our partner schools. The first one will be Yorkwoods PS (Jane & Finch) and we will announce more soon.

The List (all new, unused):

❤️Crayons

❤️Markers

❤️Construction & lined paper

❤️School supplies

❤️Small toys and crafts (ex: bubbles, balls, chalk, stickers)

Do you have #one2give? Contact us for contactless delivery options.

Want to donate from home? Check out our Amazon wishlist here (stay tuned for local partnerships). No donation is too small. #smallaskbigimpact.

Thank you to our #one2give family for coming together, once again, to support our city's most vulnerable.

PROJECT STATUS: CLOSED

#one2give x Seeds of Hope

It’s been a long few months since our last round of #one2give. We are so excited to reconnect and loop you in on our latest project in partnership with Seeds of Hope!

Due to lockdown restrictions, many social service agencies have been unable to accept in-kind donations. However, the need for essential items continues to soar, particularly for those who are living outside this winter. Did you know that socks are the most highly needed and least-donated item for people living on the street?

We want to help get NEW socks onto the feet of people living in encampments and on the street in Toronto.

On Valentines Day, February 14, 2021, #one2give launched #onebigneed: The Sock Blitz in partnership with Seeds of Hope.

Due to the current lockdown, we will not have Drop Spots located throughout the city. However, there are still ways you can help:

1) Donate a Pair of New Socks*

Have a spare pair of new socks at home? Drop them at our designated collection spot. Email one2giveTO@gmail.com for the address.
***Preference is for men’s size L/XL, however, all sizes are welcome

2) Purchase a Pair of New Socks

Stay home, stay safe and keep someone’s feet warm by picking up a pair of socks online. Here’s a selection of suggested vendors:

one2give toronto project give back letters

#one2give x Project Give Back feat. Letters Against Isolation

Every other week, our co-founder Lindsay is in the Project Give Back Kindness Corner, sharing simple ways to give back. This week, Lindsay talked about how you can brighten the day of a senior in isolation.

We believe that small acts can have a big impact. We believe in the power of one. We believe in coming together to take care of our most vulnerable.

We are grateful to live with families and virtual villages. Most seniors live in isolation. Senior loneliness is a well-documented issue that affects both mental and physical health.

That’s why we were beyond inspired to learn about Letters Against Isolation. Founded by kick-ass kindness duo Shreya and Saffron Patel, Letters Against Isolation connects you with self-isolating seniors so that you can write them letters to brighten their days. Since its launch, Letters Against Isolation has expanded to serve thousands of seniors in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.

Here’s this week’s kindness challenge:

You never know the power one small act. can have. To the person receiving that letter, it might mean the world.
